Restricted slip collars are commonly used when walking or for obedience training the more compliant dog. The collar can be used as a slip collar by attaching leash to the 'slip' ring, or as a non-tightening collar by attaching leash to the 'dead' ring.

 

To prevent accidental choking slip collars should never be left on an unattended pet.

 

Easy rule of thumb...if it's not attached to you through a leash, the collar should not be on your pet.
